Organizing Flies to sell

When I started tying 8 months ago I never thought people would want to buy my flies. I just started cranking them out for fun and amassed thousands of flies. More than I could imagine ever fishing with since I can only get out several times a year. Now that I just finished a big shop order I got 2 more today. Which will keep me quite busy. I got 37 different styles of flies to tie in multiple sizes. As I did my last order I always did a dozen or more extra of each. I will do the same here. Eventually I want to open a site and sell a little with everything in stock. On the site it will say exactly everyday of what I have.  Also my wholesale customers can use it as well if they need to fill an empty slot in their bins, they can see what I have to ship that day. I started playing with ideas where I can keep all these flies after they are tied. I ended up going to smart and final and getting these plastic cups with tops.  Now I just got to sort through all my flies and put these together.  Some are too big for the cups so  I have a ton of altoids tins I will use for now till I find something better. I just started putting the flies in that I had at hands grasp to see how it would all look and think this system will work well for now. It might not be the right way when I get them all organized today.  I wont be starting the site till late winter so I have tons of time to build up stock, get more accounts, and some other things I want to do under my belt.  I don't plan for this to be big or make a ton of money but it helps fill my day and is satisfying. The flies will not be shipped in these of course it is just for storage.  Let me know what you think.

The lids I can write on it and what the size is.

check out these "to go" take out containers . Those little cups you have are actually containers used in food service industry , and these "sandwich" sized ( in link ) are perfect for larger amounts of flies , and for larger flies. They have clear hinge plastic lids so you can easily see them .
It is what a friend of mine uses to keep his commercially tied flies . there cheap and easily stackable .

  2. Congrats on more orders. The cups seem to work good, especially for the smaller flies. For the larger ones I would think about getting some tupperware bowls.

Also, when your ready to start your site, if you need a hand I'm a web and graphic designer. www.anthonylaurence.net

    Best of luck!
