Hopper Juan designed by Juan Ramirez

First of all I want to say I am back. I had oral surgery the other day and have been down. Also This is step one in taking better pictures. I still have shadows but it is 200% better than what I had before. I sent Juan some flies a week or so ago and being the gracious person he is, sent me a kit to make his hopper and some other materials.  THANKS JUAN!!
 Hopper Juan

Hook: MFC 7026 Size 8
Thread:  Tan but I used a rusty brown
Body: 2mm Foam - Tan and Brown
Underwing: MFC Mottled Web Stonefly Cut
Upperwing: Select Cow Elk
Legs: Barred Round Rubber Legs
Indicator: MFC Hot Pink Gator Hair

Here is a view from the top. You can pre-cut these bodies by using a Chernobyl cutter. Also you can get this kit from Juan himself or at Ghillies fly shop (719) 531-5413. Juan also is having some material give aways so check out his blog for more information about it.

Of course I had to try and make an extended body version. I think it turned out pretty good!  Let me know what you guys think.  Thanks everyone for checking this out. I have more flies to post today
Check out the video below to see Juan tie this fly personally.

  1. Nice looking hopper. Its always nice to see different styles of hoppers. That one looks like it has great ability to float. NICE pics.
