Sheephead Sculphin

Sheephead Sculphin

Hook: Mustad 9672 size 6
Tail: Black zonker strip
Body:  Black zonker wrapper on body
Fin: Pheasant feather with head cement to make hard
Eye:  Spirit river dumbels with umpqua red eyes
Head: Tan and Black Wool fur spun over hook

I have been tying these for some time now. I have tied them in this color and also in olive. You can hardly tell but the hook does ride up on this pattern. Below is a picture of the olive pattern I tie. I have had great success on smaller rivers and creeks with this for browns and rainbows. The olives ones I use tan yarn and wrap a wire around the zonker matuka style

  1. Dustin, I'm really liking the trude and Wulff, two of my go-to flies. You've got a certain style I like. I also like the header. Good job.

  2. Thank you! I really need to get a better camera for my pics. Mostly I need to quite shaking haha. I literally have to take about 10 pics of each just to get semi in focus. I really need to get a tri-pod

  3. Dustin,

How about tying a really cool Green drake nymph.

The best I've seen is an Oliver Edwards patten tied with an extended body. But I bet with your skill you could come up with something.

  4. I will play around with some stuff tomorrow and see what I can come up with
